Second workshop of the PowerLab Research Group will be the Maxwell Training by Reza Zeinali & Rasul Tarvirdilu Asl. This tutorial will take 4 different sessions whose details are stated below.

1st session: Basic concepts in electromechanical energy conversion – 07/12/2016 18:00-20:30 at D131

  • C-core geometry with a field winding
    • Analytic evaluation of magnetic circuit
    • Creating 2D Finite Element Model
    • Validating analytic results using 2D Finite Element
  • C-core geometry with a permanent magnet
    • Calculation of magnet operating point
    • Developing 2D FE Model
    • Results validating
  • Adding motion setup to the C-core geometry and FEM simulation
    • Linear motion
    • Rotational motion

2nd session: RMxprt – 14/12/2016 18:00-20:30 at D131

  • Design of a Radial Flux Permanent Magnet (RFPM) motor using analytic equations
  • Developing RMxprt model of the designed motor
    • Developing geometry in RMxprt
    • Analyzing model
    • Results evolution and comparison with analytic calculation
    • Transferring design to the FEM 2D or 3D

3rd session: 2D Finite Element – 21/12/2016 18:00-20:30 at D131
